In the current day and age spirituality has become much more “mainstream”, so to speak. But even though the term is now more firmly embedded in our common everyday speech - be it on our social media feeds or in our yoga and wellness studios - the actual concept of spirituality has been a part of humanity since the beginning of our time.
So what does it actually mean to be spiritual? It’s a broad concept, and its definition can change depending on one’s unique perspective - but ultimately, it is about feeling a sense of connection with not only the world around us but the energy within it. It’s about the belief that there is something bigger than ourselves, and having a level of faith in our connection with that - and how that aligns with our purpose and meaning in life, both on an individual and collective level. In this respect, spirituality is a universal human experience, and something that we all feel in some way or another, even if we don't all define it the same way.
Join us as we explore what it means to have a soul, what consciousness is, the different ways human beings from cultures and backgrounds all over the world exhibit and honor their faith, and everything in between - and how our spirituality may affect our health, well-being, and quality of life.
There is a lot to be said for having a positive mental attitude (PMA), and of finding greater joy in even the smallest of things. But PMA also opens the door for you to take it a step further, and willingly attract the things that bring you joy.
Do affirmations really have the power to change our lives? A practice of creating and reciting positive statements in order to manifest or affirm a positive reality, affirmations have been used in spiritual practice for a long time. They are also integral to many therapeutic practices, such as Emotional Freedom Technique (tapping therapy), and becoming more common in clinical therapies like CBT or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Because neuroscientific research confirms that affirmations work. Using an affirmative statement such as “my life is joyful” as part of a personal practice can, it seems, make life more joyful. To understand how, it helps to know about neuroplasticity.
The power of ritual is undeniable, and has been tied to the process of healing and growth long throughout history. Rituals allow us to connect better with ourselves and the world around us, and turn even simple, everyday acts into something meaningful that is filled with purpose and intention. And what better time to establish or honor some rituals than the end of a year?
What is a soul? What has a soul - is it all living beings? Do animals have a soul? What about consciousness - what is consciousness? Can consciousness be shared, and can we communicate with each other through consciousness? How does meditation connect us more deeply to our spiritual selves - and indeed, what does it mean to be a spiritual person? Is manifestation real, what does it actually mean to manifest something, does manifestation only occur in the mind or does it require action, and how do you manifest your dreams and goals? What is the meaning of life? What is the purpose of humanity, and how can we bring humanity together? Are we really all connected? What does it mean to be good or evil, and who or what judges these bases of morality? Is there life after death? Is there life before birth? Is our reality actually real? Why do we dream, and what are some of the great universal truths of humankind? There are countless questions we could explore about our individual and collective spirituality and faith, many of them quite philosophical in nature, and we look forward to delving into as many as we possibly can.
