Activate the Superpowers of Your Brain

Using Neuroscience to Rewire Your Brain and Experiences

The human brain is a powerhouse that can change the way we perceive the world around us, and how we interact with it – not to mention the relationships we have with other people and ourselves. In this 4-week course with renowned neuroscientist Dr. Hagar Goldberg, you'll take a scientific, yet personal, journey into your mind and brain to understand what it is actually capable of. You'll learn how your internal stories shape your life, and how the connections between your brain and experiences have the power to transform and redefine your identity and reality.

What you can achieve with this course

  • Explore a deeper understanding of the connection between neuroscience and well-being.
  • Understand the power that your internal stories play in shaping your perspectives and experiences.
  • Discover quick ways to apply neuroscience to strengthen your identity and make changes in your life for the better.
  • Become more self-aware and feel empowered to be the writer of your life story.
  • Learn more about yourself and the way you act, think, and feel.

About

Passionate about neuroscience, and driven by human development, neuroscientist Dr. Hagar Goldberg has spent years leading research and educational projects on the behavioral and neuronal mechanisms of empathy, creativity, human social-emotional development, learning, and neurodiversity. With a Ph.D. in neuroscience from the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Hagar is an academic instructor at the University of British Columbia, where she views and applies learning as a cognitive, emotional, and social experience.

Course Plan

Week 1 - The Ever-Changing Brain
As we set off on this exploration, we will first understand how the brain processes information and why we think in stories. This week's central theme is neuroplasticity, and we will learn how our brains change with every experience and how our perception, memories, and reality are dynamic and evolving. Finally, we will work to understand how this connects to our inner narratives.
Week 2 - The Social Brain
We cannot understand the individual's mind without understanding the social brain. This week we will learn about the human brain's expertise in processing social information and its relation to cognition (the mental process of thinking). We will explore the connections between our individuality, social relatedness, and the many writers of our origin stories.
Week 3 - My Superpower and My Kryptonite
Now, with more context about our brain and narrative development, we can unpack and reexamine those narratives and self-beliefs. This week will dive deeply into our brain and mind mechanisms, get to know our brains intimately with self-compassion, and uncover our strengths and tender spots.
Week 4 - My Brain – My Story
This week we will dive deeper into how narratives relate to brain and mental health and connect between brains. We will build on information from previous weeks to become the conscious narrator of our inner voice and life story.
