Relax With Easy Chair Yoga
Originating over 5,000 years ago in northern India, yoga helps to improve strength, flexibility, and stress management, while also developing a greater sense of mindfulness and well-being. This meditation – which involves a gentle physical aspect with some low-intensity movements and simple breathing techniques that can be done while sitting in a chair – can help relieve muscle tension and reduce anxious feelings.
Some of the poses involved include Chair Cat and Cow Pose (also known as Chair Marjaryasana Bitilasana), Chair Raised-Hand Pose (also known as Chair Urdhva Hastasana), and Seated Crescent Moon Pose (also known as the Seated Half Moon Pose).
These exercises can be done by all levels, and is ideal for office workers or those with a sedentary lifestyle. You can use it to give your muscles a break after sitting for long periods of time at work, at home, or on a plane.
